GreenBooks was founded back in 2015 as a capacity building bookkeeping social enterprise developed by Sustainable Eastern Ontario and offered to small environmental nonprofit
organizations throughout the Ottawa area. This project was a success and acted as a confirmation that bookkeeping and financial support are needed by organizations.
Two organizations were a part of the pilot project, and then we received funding in 2015 which grew the number of organizations from two to seven.
In 2016 the goal was to grow from seven to ten, but ended up gaining twelve because of the success of the program.
Throughout the years GreenBooks has experienced steady growth, and in 2021, we became large enough and stable enough to separate from Sustainable Eastern Ontario and become federally incorporated, allowing us to operate nationally and offer our services to environmental nonprofits all over Canada.
Since 2022 began GreenBooks has welcomed three new bookkeepers to our team to help with the client expansion and to ensure the needs of our clients are being met. To date GreenBooks now works with over 50 environmental nonprofits all throughout Canada.
GreenBooks is a full-service bookkeeping social enterprise founded to help other environmentalists and progressive non-profits. Our goal is to help you deliver on your mission without wasting time worrying about the books. We believe that high-quality bookkeeping should be accessible to organizations of any size, and strive to provide excellence and value. We specialize in QuickBooks bookkeeping and financial consulting.
We are advocates, environmental leaders, and experienced bookkeepers. We know what it takes to create a financially sustainable organization and understand the challenges new groups face.
Many organizations struggle to break the "cycle of starvation," facing huge administrative burdens with no budgets. We want to lower the barrier to entry for social change organizations.
Every voice matters, every vote counts. We believe that you build a movement one organization at a time, and prioritize capacity-building to help organizations become local powerhouses.
We are driven by passion and love for our planet and its peoples. We are here to make the world a better place by helping other groups: our mission is for your mission to succeed.
